
We’re regularly urged to take 10,000 steps a day. However, it seems 10,000 isn’t precisely a number anchored in science. Relatively, it’s a product of marketing. According to a Harvard medical website, that figure goes again to “1965, when a Japanese company made a tool named Manpo-kei, which translates to ’10,000 steps meter.’ ” 10,000 likely sounded guesster than a extra precise number.
